How to Appoint Your E-Invoicing Service Provider on EmaraTax Before 30 October

By nAlyze • September 16, 2026

Appointing an accredited service provider in the UAE is now a hard compliance deadline rather than a planning item. If your annual revenue is AED 50 million or more, yours must be appointed by 30 October 2026, roughly six weeks away.

The deadline moved once already, a Ministerial Decision issued in May 2026 pushed it back from 31 July. The go-live date did not move. Mandatory e-invoicing still begins 1 January 2027, so the extension did not give you more time overall; it gave you less time between appointing a provider and going live with them.

What the Deadline Actually Requires

Appointing a provider, not going live. You need a signed commercial agreement with an accredited provider and the appointment recorded against your tax record. The phased dates for everyone else are set out in our guide to UAE e-invoicing deadlines.

The Six Steps

  • Confirm your wave. AED 50 million or more in annual revenue puts you in the first cohort, appointing by 30 October and issuing from 1 January 2027
  • Get your TIN. Your Peppol participant identifier is built from your tax identification number. If you are not registered for corporate tax you must still register with the FTA to obtain one, and each legal entity needs its own, including every member of a VAT group
  • Choose a provider from the list published by the Ministry of Finance, checking accreditation status directly rather than relying on a sales claim
  • Sign the commercial agreement before touching the portal, the appointment records an arrangement that already exists
  • Record the appointment in EmaraTax, in the e-invoicing onboarding section. Your provider will normally walk you through this step
  • The voluntary environment has been open since 1 July 2026 and exists precisely so you are not testing in January

Three Things People Get Wrong

Pre-approved is not the same as accredited. Providers appear on a pre-approved list before completing full accreditation. If you engage one that has not finished, make full accreditation a contractual milestone well before your go-live, with exit and migration rights at no cost to you if they miss it. Their technical delay should not become your compliance failure.

You appoint one provider, not several. A single accredited service provider handles both the invoices you issue and the invoices you receive, accounts receivable and accounts payable through the same channel. Changing later is possible, through the portal.

EmaraTax is not the invoicing channel. It is where the appointment is recorded. Your invoices travel through your provider over the Peppol network, with tax data reported to the Authority automatically. Nobody uploads invoices to EmaraTax.

The Real Deadline Is Not October

Appointing a provider on 30 October and going live on 1 January leaves nine weeks, over a period containing year-end close, to map your data to the mandatory fields, integrate your ERP, onboard counterparties and test end to end. A plan that begins integration after the appointment deadline is a plan to go live untested.

The data work is the long pole, and it is covered in our guide to UAE e-invoicing requirements. Clean master data in bookkeeping now is what makes the January date comfortable rather than frantic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an accredited service provider in the UAE?

A provider approved by the Ministry of Finance to validate, convert, transmit and report e-invoices on your behalf. Using one is mandatory, businesses cannot transmit e-invoices directly.

What is the deadline to appoint one?

30 October 2026 for businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more, extended from 31 July. Businesses below that threshold and government entities appoint by 31 March 2027.

Do I need a TIN to appoint a provider?

Yes. Your participant identifier derives from your tax identification number, so businesses not otherwise registered must register with the FTA to obtain one. Each entity needs its own, including each member of a VAT group.

Can I appoint more than one provider?

No. One provider handles both outgoing and incoming invoices. You can change provider later through the portal, but you cannot run two at once.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Administrative penalties apply from the date compliance becomes mandatory for your revenue band. The larger risk is capacity every business in your cohort is competing for the same implementation resource.

Does appointing a provider mean I am compliant?

No. Appointment is one step. You still need your systems producing the mandatory data fields correctly, tested end to end, before mandatory issuance begins on 1 January 2027.
